To celebrate the Month of the Military Child we have a number of exciting events planned at Edgewood!

Wear Purple, Why Purple?

  • We are asking that all students and staff wear purple to celebrate the Month of the Military Child
  • The color purple symbolizes “joint” in the military world, meaning “all services.” In the world of color, if you combine Army Green, Coast Guard Blue, Air Force Blue, Marine Red and Navy Blue, you get purple.

Lunch Periods (10:39-12:05

  • Students will participate in a “My Military Move” Activity
  • Student Leaders and Staff will facilitate additional activities and discussions

Extended Advisory (12:48-1:15 p.m.)

  • Students will participate in a follow up discussion and an activity with their advisory

If you have any questions about the event, please feel free to contact me!

Ms. Schultz

Edgewood Students Set to Cross Social Boundaries during “Mix It Up Day at Lunch”
Edgewood students joined more than 2 million others across the country to cross social and racial boundaries on Tuesday, Nov. 9, as part of Mix It Up Day at lunch. Mix It Up Day helps break down the barriers between students and improves intergroup relations so there are fewer misunderstandings that can lead to conflicts, bullying and harassment.

In preparation for Mix It Up Day, students had the opportunity to participate in activities and discussions about diversity and cliques during Extended Advisory on November 4th.  On Mix It Up Day, students were given a colored bracelet that encouraged them to sit with a new group during lunch. At the table Student Council members facilitated discussions to help students learn more about each other and make connections. Mix It Up Day at Lunch was a great success, thanks to the student and staff excitement. We hope this day fostered a greater respect and understanding of students.
